James M. Finneran

Principal, BSEET (Purdue)

James Finneran founded ElectroTek Consultants in 1995 after a career in industrial electrical systems. He holds a Bachelor of Science in Electrical Engineering Technology from Purdue University and maintains certifications as a Certified Fire and Explosion Investigator (CFEI) and Certified Vehicle Fire Investigator (CVFI).

Mr. Finneran serves as a Principal Member on the NFPA 921 Technical Committee—the standard-setting body for fire and explosion investigation methodology. He is the lead electrical instructor at Fire Findings laboratory, where he has taught "Residential Electricity for Fire Investigators" for over 28 years.

His investigative work has contributed to multiple product recalls by the U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission. He has served as expert witness for major manufacturers including General Electric, with testimony in federal courts including the Fifth Circuit Court of Appeals.
